I am planning on upgrading my fx6300 to a fx8350 and I would really like to know if I would need to update my BIOS? This is really bugging me, so any answers will be greatly appreciated.

My system specs:
Motherboard GA 78LMT-USB3.0
CPU(current)- fx 6300
GPU- R9 290X
RAM- 8gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz
CPU Cooler- Cooler Master hyper 212 Evo
Thanks in advance!

You should update your bios even if u dont plan to upgrade your cpu. Having the latest bios usually "fixes" bugs and stuff.

My philosophy is that you should only update the BIOS if you really, really need to.

As in - something does not work, or to gain capability for a newer CPU if the current BIOS does not support it.
Does your current BIOS level support that CPU?

According to Gigabyte. both the fx6300 and the fx8350 are supported in the F3 BIOS version on the 4.1 motherboard.
Presumably, you should be OK.

By now that board should support that CPU right out of the box.
