Hi, my Dell Inspiron 620 (Mini Tower) desktop suffered a lightning strike last week and I would greatly appreciate some assistance. My OS is Windows 8.1 with an Intel Core i3-2100 (3.1GHz , 3 MB Cache) processor.
The computer would freeze at the Windows logo with no dotted circle indicating activity and no error message. I tried to boot it with the Windows disk and I tried to get the computer to boot into Safe Mode with no success. Sometimes the computer would get a bit farther and have the message, "Starting Automatic Repair" but then hang there forever - I timed it... twice - . I reset BIOS by taking out the CMOS battery on the motherboard and replacing it after two minutes. I also tested the power supply with my multi-tester and each pin tested within spec. I don't see any puffy capacitors or anything that looks blown. All of the fans were running when powered.
I am not a gamer, so I don't require a heavy-duty graphics card.
I'm not sure what to do next?
