Help with 3 monitor eyefinity from 2 way crossfire r9 290x

I want to set up 3 monitors in eyefinity. I have bought 2 gigabyte r9 290x's and they are on the way, and i already have 3 dell uh2312hm monitors. The monitors all have a displayport which should allow for eyefinity, however the 290x's only have 1 displayport each and the displayport on the second card will be disabled while in crossfire. What will i need to do in order to set up eyefinity? The cards have 1 displayport 2 dvi-d amd 1 hdmi port each, i assume i will need adapters to set this up? If so what kind and how many will i need?

Thanks in advance!!

  1. you will need probably two DVI-D to display port adapter cables, they are cheap.

but do you monitors also carry dvi? If so then no adapters are needed, only two dvi cables.
  2. They do have dvi ports actually, so i will just hook up the 2 dvi ports on the card to a monitor each? And use the displayport for the third monitor?

    yes. That should work.
  4. I must be living in another dimension then or something, since the highest I have seen on my 290X Tri-x is 74c while playing Bioshock Infinite on max settings and it is pretty silent... Although, Sapphire cooler is amazing, true. It's also bloody huge, this card is actually bigger than my previous Radeon HD 6990.
