Missing Space on SSD and HDD

A while ago I made a thread here hoping to get some help with a deleted partition. It's been a few months and I'm noticing that there is just empty space after having deleted a system reserved partition.

I'm currently using 153.5GB on an SSD with 223GB total space (re: it's actually a 250 so I'm not sure where the other 27GB have gone to either unless that's part of the whole "1GB isn't actually 1,000MB" deal).

On my HDD, I'm using 123.1GB out of a total 931GB. I actually wiped my HDD completely so I'm not sure why it's reading as 931GB and not 1TB. There should be no hidden partitions on that one?

How would I clean up a drive that is in use without needing to wipe it and put windows back on? Can I get my space back?

Any other info will be given if asked, I'm not really sure what else to share. Sorry.

You lose some when formatting it. The spec for the drives says eg 250gb MAX, 1TB MAX

My 120gb SSD - format, lose 30gb. Install Windows - 30GB plus 30GB windows reserve partition leaves 30GB. SSD you need spare room or they wear out quick. So that's it - just 30GB on my 120GB SSD.

223GB may be correct but I'm only using 153.4GB. I should have ~70GB left, no? Computer is saying I only have 44.5GB free. Unless 223 is correct and there is a 30GB hidden partition?

With Hard drives 1MB = 1,000,000 bytes not the 1,048,576 that a computer sees 1MB as. This is just how it is.

So a 1 TB which is 1,000,000,000,000 bytes in Hard Drive Makers terms is not the 1,125,899,906,842,624 that a computer see it as so when a computer the 1Tb that makers make it and converts that from a Base 10 to a Base 2 how PC reads data (1's and 0's) it sees a 1TB as 931.32 GB

a 250GB should come out to 232 GB though. Are you sure its not a 240GB? that sounds right about the right size for a 240GB.

Thanks. Guess I'll consider this if I need to format for whatever reason, or for future SSDs.

Or you have some other hidden files.

Someone mentioned formatting; I'd formatted it once before, so I'm assuming the 30 gigabytes of missing space was from that.
