I just bought the Dual-X R9 280X card by sapphire and am a little confused on the power connections. I cannot find a spare 8 pin on my psu but it has the input for 2; on sapphires site they show it requires 1 6 pin but both inputs are 8 pin. Do I get an extra 2x molex adapter or do I put a 6 pin in one of the 8 pin slot?. Only reason I'm questioning the double 8 pin slots is since their main site lists a 6 pin as a requirement.

Ocz gxs700
It has no 6+2 only 6. The manufacture states 1 75w 6 pin and 1 150w 8pin and double both for crossfie but I cannot figure out why they put 2 8pin slots if that's the case.

I forgot to mention it's the bf4 edition with uefi. I counted the pins and it's definitely 2x 8 pin and in stock photos it's 8 but the specs there list 1x 8 and 1x 6. Is there any big risk with trying a 6 pin in one of the 8 pins since manufacturer lists that?

if the card need two 8 pins i would not use that psu it could be not able to handle her and make the card work ,see if you could get a psu that have at least minimum requirements for her with two 8 pins cable for the gpu . i would not try it .

Ok. I ordered a new one earlier today. My current one is a 700w but has a few years on it. I just wanted to get the new card in use as soon as possible. Thanks though.

I just purchased this card and have the exact same issue. I have 2 6-pin and 1 8-pin connections on my PSU, but the card has 2 8-pin slots. I'd love to know if I can use the 8 pin and a 6-pin or if I have to invest in a new PSU which seems silly.
