I plan to build my own pc for the very first time. Since I have never done this before, I do not know if the parts i chose will give me the best value for the money i plan to spend.

Here are the parts:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory

Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Video Card: PowerColor Radeon R9 270X 2GB TurboDuo Video Card

Case: Cooler Master Elite 431 Plus

Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer

I am open to any suggestions you may have. Keep in mind my budget is 1000$, at most i am willing to spend one or two hundred extra.

+1 though I'd go w/ a Z97 mobo to give yourself an upgrade path to Broadwell CPUs down the road, and preference wise I'd...
Those parts should go together OK.

You should be able to get the newer i5 4690k for about the same price.

Then get a Z97 mobo eg http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/mainstream-gaming-z97-motherboard,3824.html ASRock Z97 Extreme 4 or Asus Z97-A

If you want to keep the 4670k, then get the Z87 equivalents.

The Corsair CX are a Tier 3 power supply in http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html. There have been a lot of problems reported with them.

You only need a good 500W psu for your build. Get a Seasonic 520, XFX 550 or Antec HCG 520M instead.
