I created a new Volume and erased my data! How do I get it back?

I was having issues with my Iomega external hard drive so I created a new simple volume on it to get it to read on my computer. I wasn't too educated on doing this and all of my data was deleted Anyone know how to recover that data???

Recuva is a useful tool and so long as you haven't overwrittten the data, it can normally undelete files after a quick format. Download it from http://www.piriform.com.
