I am using windows 8 in my laptop and suddenly today the sound is gone. How can you assist me to restore the speaker sound ? When I open the a video no sound comes.

What did you do different or what was changed? Did you do any windows updates or install new software? New driver files? Down in the taskbar is there an icon of a speaker there and is it marked by anything? Is the sound muted? Click on the little speaker icon and see if it's muted. Go into control panel>device manager>sound, video and game controllers and double click to open the submenu. Does everything look ok with no exclamations?

I found this post when I was looking for an answer to the same problem. I found my issue to be something that I didn't see mentioned, so I thought I would share. My computer turned out to be connected to a bluetooth receiver I added to my home theater, but the home theater was not on.

Maybe this will help someone.

I'll try to help you but I need you to provide me with your system information. What is your laptop brand and model number. I'll need the full model number not just the series. For example, if it was a Compaq Presario CQ62-231NR I would need that full model number, not just Compaq CQ62.
