My USB microphone does not pick up my voice.

I recently purchased a Q6 usb headset and the audio works fine and my mic is recognized by my laptop but it doesn't pick up my voice or anything.

You need to go to your sound recording devices section in sound preferences from Windows control panel and set this mic as default.

This is at the system level. Now, if you wish to use it in Skype, you have to do the same thing within Skype options. There are several programs that don't use default system settings, so you have to configure your sound recording device for each one of them.

No I don't think you understand my mic is picked up in the recording devices but doesn't pick up my voice it is just acknowledged same with every other application.

Could be a faulty mic. Did you try with other mics if you have them around?
