Hey guys, allright so I made a previous thread about making a computor that is about 800-900$ that is perfect for general performance and no lag in gaming, but specifically in 3d modelling and rendering In program's such as Zbrush, Maya, Autocad, Motionbuilder etc.
I have been in a constant rebuttal between these two processors AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHICH TO USE.
Intel i7 4970K or the AMD FX-8350 Octa core processor.
I have read around and I heard that some program's such as maya (I think) don't take advantage of gpu and all the cores which means a single core performance would be better aka the i7. Can you guys help me??

For the graphics card I was also leaning towards the Gigabyte GTX 660 as it seems pretty solid, and about 8gig - 16gig ram as a starter then I'll upgrade.

I don't need OS, MOUSE, KEYBOARD.

Thanks!! :)

depends on the program you are using. Generally, intel i7s are favored, as many older versions (prior to 2014) of maya specifically can't utilize all cores. i7s have a much better single threaded performance. With the CPU you listed, the 4970, you will basically have 12 cores, 6 physical and 6 virtual (hyper threading). I would choose the i7 over the AMD any day, every time. That said, Intel will release a new high end cpu in september, the successor to 4970k. So you may want to hold off. New boards and CPU will allow for DDR4 ram. Probably more cores, and faster.

I personally use i7, 3820.
Go i7 most apps will prefer the faster cores and even the ones that don't the i7 will be fast enough to make it more or less a wash between the two. However since you have a lower budget depending on where you get your parts you may wish to drop to a non-K (4790) processor and non Z chipset to come in under budget.

Okay so overall the I7 will be better. And unfortunately I cant actually wait that long till september as I have a project for school :/
how about graphics cards and motherboards?? Im fine with buying a 240gig SSD and a 1tb harddrive, its just all the other components in combo with eachother im confused about.
can someone make me a few lists that show me good builds taking into account the 4970K ?

Hello, I am into 3D modeling and in game design!
More specifically work with programs like Maya, ZBrush, UE4 etc
So i'm want to buy new pc.
I came to the wall, and I do not know further
CPUs Intel quad (i7 / i5) vs amd octa
more precisely (fx9590 4.7 ghz)
Why does everyone say that Intel's Quad-core are in rank whit AMD processors Octa-core,even they are better.
Video card I picked is gtx 780ti
I know that is quad core better for games, because games don't use all advantage of all cores (8)
But my question is why is intel better?
Common sense would suggest that the 8 greater than 4! :)

One of the reasons why an i7 is better than AMD is the presence of Hyper-threading Technology. It creates a second processor per core, each with individual architecture. This basically allows for tasks like heavy video rendering, 3D modeling, and graphics work to be handled efficiently. As one processor set focuses on the work being done, the other queues up the next task.
