I had 8gb of G.Skill Ripjaw series ram which had specs of 1600mhz, cl9-9-9-24 1.5V, and it ran great at 1600mhz in the bios. However, I just got 8 more gigs of ram from Team Group Zeus, with the same specs as the G.Skill ram, however, the frequency of my ram is now 1333mhz. I tried looking everywhere in the bios to try and change it, but it's not working. My motherboard is a MSI Z77a-g45, and I set my overclock genie for the ram to be 1600mhz, and still defaults at 1333. Everything is set to 1600mhz, but it still defaulting to 1333mhz. Attached are some pictures I took in the bios..

I looked online, and people say to look for XMP, but I can't seem to find that anywhere in the bios. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Ram is sold in kits for a reason.
Ram from the same vendor and part number can be made up of differing manufacturing components over time.
Some motherboards can be very sensitive to this.
That is why ram vendors will NOT support ram that is not bought in one kit.
Although, I think the problem has lessened with the newer Intel chipsets. Still,
it is safer to get what you need in one kit.

Now, all is not lost.
It turns out that ram speed is not important to intel cpu's.
You are looking at 1-2% real app or fps difference.
One reason is that slower speeds enable lower cas numbers.

I believe for my motherboard, it's the "linked" option..

When I look at the individual DIMMs, the G.Skills are running at 1600, just the Team one is running at 1333, which I guess bottlenecks it at 1333.
