^ Agreed, giving the CPU a bit of a overclock will help, AMD CPUs don't do as well as Intel on a clock-to-clock basis (an Intel core can do more work per MHz than an AMD one) and plenty of games still rely on only two or four fast cores rather that being able to exploit 6 or 8 cores.
If you don't want to overclock, the R9 280 is nearly as fast and somewhat less expensive BTW.
