Hi everyone!

I am looking at upgrading the CPU and Graphics card for my rather old PC. Could anyone advise on what the highest CPU and graphics card my board will support are? I know where the CPU is concerned it will depend on chipset and CPU socket type. I believe the RAM can't be upgraded as everything is DDR3 and this only supports DDR2.

Current build:

XFX MB750I72P9 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI http://www.newegg.com/global/uk/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813141016

DDR2 8GB Memory
2 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260s in SLI
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600

Many thanks in advance for taking time to read and help!

Unfortunately the best processors that used socket LGA-775 are other Core 2 Quads. Most of them would not be a meaningful upgrade from your Q6600 compared to what's available today, and would certainly be way more expensive than they're worth.

I'm afraid you're going to need a new motherboard and RAM as well; so basically a new machine.

Thanks oxiide,

I suspected as much to be honest, but thought it was worth checking anyway before investing in a new setup!
