I'm trying to install a SP120 Corsair Case Fan to the top of my HAF 912. However, the fan or the case neither have anything to attach the screw to. The instructions for the 912 show a fan configured differently from the one I have so it's not use. What am I supposed to attach the screw to?

You're supposed to just screw the screw into the holes in your fan, and sandwich the case between the head of the screw and your fan. So the screws are on the outside.

That's basically what the diagram for the 912 shows. But the holes on the fan are not made to have screws installed. They're far too large, and they're smooth, not threaded. The holes on the fan are meant to be a tunnel for the screw to follow straight out the other side.

The holes aren't supposed to be threaded. Generally you screw them into the plastic bits of the fan, not the case itself. If the holes are too large, make sure you use the screws that came with the fan, or the case if the screws are too small.

The sp120 is certainly meant to have screws screwed into them. It includes screws sooo...

The SP120 does not come with screws. I purchased 2, neither have screws or threads on the fans. Are you looking at the High Performance? Because the holes on it are definitely only meant as tunnels.
