This is the build I've came up with here -

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/bPMM4D

Is there anyway I can make it better but stay in the £550 (max price) budget? or maybe even drop the price a bit?

..never build a pc before so yeah hah..

I would pick a 8320 over the 8350 and choose a Caviar Blue HDD over the Black for storage.

This should save you £40 which I would invest into your GPU and will put you in reach of an R9 280.

Also be aware that UK retailers are pretty bad for delivery. Try and get as much from one retailer as they like to charge £10+ for the cheapest option (it's next day but still).

Don't get AMD, get an intel core i5 4430 or 4460 or if you can 4590 and a H97 motherboard. If you do this you will have a faster cpu than FX for gaming and you can drop a new Broadwell cpu which is coming in the next few years into your motherboard without replacing it.
