do my 4790k temps look ok

i recently upgraded to an Intel i7 4790k from an amd 8350 and am curious about my temps because I could not find a straightforward answer on this cpu's operating temps.

im using an NZXT Kraken x40

I just want to know if my temps are safe because at times they spike up to 85 c. I dont know much about cpu and temps so Im looking for some answers.

If it's really 85C, that is really high. Try a different software and see if you get the same numbers. What overclock are you doing?

its more around 75 -80 the most ive seen is 85. what other software who'd you suggest and I dont know much about overclocking so I did not manually OC it but i think my mobo did http://imgur.com/uMhW1T6 cpuz if that helps.

Try Real Temp.

It doesn't appear to be overclocked at all though. 4.0GHz is base clock for the i7-4790K. Are you sure it is overclocked? If it's not overclocked, then the temperatures are way too high.

well i defaulted BIOS settings tested again and this is what I got http://imgur.com/OT0fXEn so im guessing it was an OC?

Looks like it. Doesn't look like Turbo Boost feature.

Well i have the same CPU. Temperatures tend to be high, but it looks like you are OCed and your voltage is a bit high ... you can set it to manual ... stock voltages for 4770k are 1.01V to 1.13V ...

thanks guys im also suspecting there is something up with my cooler as well at random times under load the fans RPM drop significantly
