Hi, I have a 3pin case fan that I just bought and I was wondering if I could plug it into a 3pin CPU_fan connector on my motherboard. In BIOS, my CPU_fans are running at full so would this just make the case fan run at full too?

Thanks!

Are you talking about connecting a splitter to your CPU fan header to power both your CPU fan along with your case fan? I can't remember if I have worked with a motherboard that only had a 3 pin for the CPU fan, generally they are 4 pin PWM connections so that it can control the speed of your CPU fan.

Your CPU fan is probably going full speed because a 3pin connection can not control fan speed it can only sense the speed. You can either use a splitter like a mentioned earlier or (what I would do) is get a 4 pin molex to 3 pin fan adapter and power your case fan/s using that method.

edit-- The 4 pin molex I was talking about comes directly from your PSU.

My motherboard actually has both a 4 pin and a 3 pin cpu_fan connector. My actual cpu fan that I use is plugged into the 4 pin. I am interested in plugging the case fan into the 3 pin.
