Hello
So for the past couple of weeks I have been having an issue where my computer will just randomly freeze in place and I am not able to move the mouse or input anything using the keyboard. There is no particular reason for the crashes in which I mean I am not doing anything to cause the crashes I could be playing a game or watching a video on YouTube anything and it will just crash.
Then I hard shut down the computer and turn it back on to check the Event Viewer and see that it has encountered a critical error (Kernel-Power) Code 41.
I have tested another PSU to make sure that was not the issue and it wasn't within an hour it crashed using the new PSU.
I have ran Memtest 86 and it comes back with no errors,
I ran CHKDSK using the command prompt and there is nothing wrong with my hard drives.
So i'm not really sure where to go from here the only things left to check are my GPU, CPU and Motherboard. So any suggestions are welcome at this point. Thank You in advance.
Specs:
CPU - i5-3570K
Motherboard - ASUS P8H77-M
GPU - GTX 660ti EVGA SC
PSU - Corsair CX600M
Operating System - Windows 8.1 64Bit
RAM - 2x4GB Patriot Signature 1333MHz

I had this issue recently but a little different to what you're experiencing as I was getting instant shutdowns/restarts.......No blue screen/ freeze just off.

Turns out it was a loose power supply cable on my modular PSU. Must pulled it loose when fiddling with the jumper on my motherboard after a bad OC. Took me a while to track it down but from I've read this kind of issue is most likely always a power supply issue but not necesarily you're PSU, it could be a short, cable etc.

Was going to say swap your PSU but just reread your OP. Is that PSU modular? If so did you use the same cables?

Only other sugestion I can think of is the powersupply connector on the motherboard. Check if it's loose, perhaps gently flex it with the PC...

@Karsten75
Thank You for the quick response. I have updated all my drivers and also have updated my BIOS to support my Windows 8.1 install with the newest update. I have ran out of ideas. What I am thinking is buying another motherboard because really that is the only thing left it can be. Any other suggestions are welcome.

i had the same issue, but it only happened while playing games, pc freezes and sound loop, ive tried everything and in the end it turn out if i set the fan speed on the gpu manualy i dont get pc freeze and kernel error, on auto the fan speed normal is 20% till the card reaches 80c after that i starts to spin 50%, my gpu full load reaches 66-70c and apparently its an issue, no i just set fan speed before i game and its fine, u may want to test you gpu and fan speed. try http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100356-video-card-stress-test-furmark.html

Good luck!
