I bought a pavilion laptop somedays ago.
AMD A-10 5750 Quad core with radeon 8610G discrete class integrated graphics.
I am well aware of the difference between an apu and dedicated graphics and the memory and so on.

It runs most of my online games brilliantly. I tried planetside 2 but it runs at 27 fps on medium and 10 fps in heavy battle. My friend xps laptop runs it on medium - high and get 25-40 fps in heavy battle... as you can see in the link my graphics card supposed to be better so that puts gpu out of the guestion. Except that his dedicated memory runs at 800 mhz.
http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=1838&gid2=331&compare=radeon-hd-8610g-vs-geforce-gts-250m

I found that ps2 is very cpu intensive and he has a first gen i7 processor ( hyper threading 4 cores like 8 and so on ), but when i run planetside i make sure its on realtime priority, im on performance mode and all cores are unparked and maxing out at 2.5-2.9 ghz each ( yet ps2 only takes 30% usage ) .-. and i run razors game booster with that.

My gpu depends on my ram for its 768 mb of dedicated memory if i am not mistaken... and i have 1x4gb+1x2gb ddr3l ram at 667 mhz while he has 1x4gb at 1000-1333 mhz ( not sure ).
So if i upgrade my ram to 2x4gb 1333 mhz ddr3 ( thats max supported by the a10 ), will this increase my cpu performance as well as increase the memory speed of my gpu to 1333 mhz also?
And will i be able to get the performance he is getting?
And considering that his 1 ram stick is 1333 , shouldn't that make me equal to him since i'm dual channnel at 667 mhz? Or does the gfx use 1 stick to transfer memory at 667?
AND ( does RAM speed bottleneck my cpu/gpu/both?

Note : i have overclocked my gfx card core speed to 1000 mhz and the difference is 4-8 fps. I do not plan on overclocking cpu in future.

There is no problem with the brand of RAM you can use. Just make sure is dual channel kit, (2x#GB in the same package). You'll be good with 8GB (2x4GB), DDR3 or DDR3L of course (the L stands for low voltage, usually more expensive than standard voltage RAM but has a bit less power consumption). Maybe you can buy an AMD certified memory Kit.

If there's no difference in price, try to buy a 1600MHz DDR3/DDR3L kit instead of a 1333MHz DDR3/DDR3L kit. By default, the laptop will run the 1600Hz RAM at 1333MHz, but with the OC tool you've already used, you can set the speed and timings manually (that doesn't count as OC, because that RAM is designed for those values). Of course, that needs a bit more knowledge, but going from 1333MHz to...

The A10-5750M does not have the HD 8610G GPU, it has the HD 8650G.
The A10-5745M has the HD 8610G.

Please confirm which of those APU do you have.

Either way, it does sound like you need better memory, but the A10-5750M supports up to 1866MHz RAM and the A10-5745M is limited to 1333MHz. That difference is very significant for its gaming potential.

yeea its a 5745 :v .. so the max is 1333 MHz and its what i should get... When buying the memory how do i know it will fit in my slot? are their specific brands for hp laptops? or do different brands make different sizes for all laptops? Or do i just have to take one out a carry it to the local store :/ ?

Hi ! I know you wrote this a while ago, but I have the same APU that the OP has, the a10-5745m with 6gb of ram @ 1333mhz, which seems to be the max for this apu. However you mentioned that one could buy higher speed ram (2133mhz for example) which would at first run at 1333mhz, and get it to 2133 with an OC software, is this correct ? Which software is that ? Thanks !!
