I have a Netgear N750 Dualband gigabit router. Earlier today it was working absolutely fine. All of a sudden, I cant connect to anything. My skype contacts will only load about 5 of them, then no more, as to when i switch to the comcast modem, it loads them all. Sometimes it will show its loading a webpage, but never does, and then sometimes it doesnt even do that. Please help me fix this. thanks!

Personally I would reset to defaults and reconfigure.

You can also try doing a configuration backup, reset to factory defaults, then load the configuration from the backup, but you might bring back the issue that way.

You might also see if there's a firmware update while you're at it.

I tried all of the above, restored defaults, and then try to update firmware, but it sits at 0% for at least 25 minutes. I dont know what to do at this point. Should I just buy a new router?

Make sure you've done a full reset... follow these steps:

Follow these steps to perform a router hard reset:

1. when the unit is powered on, hold down its reset button for 30 seconds
2. while still holding down the reset button, unplug the router from power and hold for an additional 30 seconds
3. still holding down the reset button, turn on power to the router again and hold for 30 more seconds

Same problems as if it were wireless. Nothing changes when I change the cord

Personally I've never had issues with Netgear routers, but it sounds like you might have a bad one. If you're still under warranty, you can try to get it replaced/fixed, or buy a new one.

I recently got a refurb Netgear WNDR3400 for $20 on Amazon.com and it works great.

The Asus mentioned in the post above is a good router also, and not a bad price either.
