I am looking to buy a laptop for school in the upcoming semester and I had a question about integrated graphics. I would like to use this laptop for schooling and also to play Sims. I am looking into the Toshiba Satellite S50-ABT3N22 Laptop and I was wondering if I needed to add on the 2GB DDR3 NVIDIA ® GeForce® GT 740M with Optimus™ Technology or not. I feel there really isn't a need for this graphics card, but I just wanted to get a clear answer. Any answers help. Thanks in advance!

If all you play is sims then there's no need for the 740m just be sure to get the i5-4200U AT LEAST and not the i3

Okay. I figured at least the i5-4200U because I know the i3 is not very good. And another quick question. Should I go with 8gb of RAM, 6gb, or 4?

What exactly are going to be doing on the laptop? 4gb is enough for games and general browsing if you have a dedicated gpu. Since you're using integrated graphics i'd suggest 6gb, but if you plan on doing some rendering or compiling then maybe 8gb is not a bad choice.

I plan to use this as a college laptop and then Sims and Netflix in my free time. No rendering or compiling or anything like that.

I don't really know the definition of college laptop but if by that you mean document writing, photo viewing, skype, movies etc then get the 6gb version.
