I just recently got a new video card but realized I needed some extra power and my current psu wasnt going to cut it. So i ordered a new psu and got it today put everything together with the new video card but nothing when i try to boot up.

I troubleshooted for a few hours thinking i messed up connections somewhere, if the psu was dead, if the mobo was dead. But cant seem to figure it out so leads me to my only possible conclusion i can think of, the psu works when i jump it and the mobo works when i put my old psu on it.

This is my first time messing with psu'. The old power supply says 3.3v and +5v and my new one is +12v does the MOBO require a specific?

PC power supplies have a combination of voltages. 3.3V, 5V, and 12V mainly.

12 Volts supplies the most current (CPU and Graphics Card).

*In general, if your power supply has the required 6/8-pin connectors for the graphics card then you should have sufficient power especially just to boot the PC.

Since everything was apparently working before you swapped things for a new PSU and video card your issue must be:

a) Insufficient PSU, or
b) Defective PSU, or
c) Defective video card, or
d) Incorrect connections

To troubleshoot you should really use a less-demanding video card, or the CPU's iGPU only if you have that to test the new PSU. If things bootup fine it may be your video card.
