TLDR Basically: At 16 I'm finally able to afford a gaming PC! This will be my first time building a PC. I mainly play FPS games so this build is all about fps rather than graphics. I'll mainly be playing at low to medium settings so I can get the highest frame rates as possible but there are plenty of games that I do want really high graphics such as Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 and future fallout games etc. That's why I went with a graphics card possible of high end games but nothing too crazy. Also, I was going to cheap out on a lot of the parts but then I realized I'm going to be working hard to get this and I want this to last quite a while and be able to upgrade it. I'll be buying these parts within the next 4-6 months. Most likely all at once but we'll see. Down below I went over why I decided on each part so skip it if you don't like reading.

I went with the i5 because there are plenty of FPS games that are more cpu demanding than graphics.

With the mobo I didn't want anything fancy. Kept it simple and made sure it was able to support Usb 3.0

Read up here that with ram and gaming it really doesn't matter if you have 1x8 or 4x2 so I found the cheapest that was at good quality and it happened to be 1x8. I also wanted DDR3-1600 so yeah...

I was going to cheap out on the case but thankfully I didn't :) Found a really nice case at a good price. Great reviews and it even has tons of PC builds with it on YouTube.

80+ Bronze PSU because gold doesn't matter apparently and it's from corsair so it's most likely a quality product.

Peripherals: 144hz monitor because I care about frames over everything else really. Went with a ten keyless keyboard because I don't need a number pad on the right and it's just taking up space. Instead of getting a crappy sounding "gaming" headset that probably has a crappy mic I went with getting an entry level pair of headphones that have good reviews and are from a source that I really trust and I went with a ModMic because the sound quality is awesome. Zowie mouse because it's minimal and nothing crazy. I'm all about simplicity. Also, I'll be getting a very large mousepad from either Zowie or Corsair or Razer.

Solution
I change you some staffs.
I add you a better I5 and since you are not gonna OC your CPU you dont need a Z97 motherboard so i replace it with H97.
Intel cpu's works better with dual channel rams so i replace them with a 2x4gb kit.
I also replace the case with a good one to save you some money and i add a 600watt PSU to be more safe.
Also i replace the R9 280 with a X model. You can add yours again if you wanna safe 60-70 dollars.

How is the X model of the 280 different from the standard model? Is it just better graphics or what? I really wanted that sexy case I picked :p Thanks for the reply :)

Ye ofc X model is better its like a GT version in cars. Its not huge upgrade but its better.
Depend if you wanna spend more money or not.
If you can spend 1300$ go for X model otherwise take yours with 70$ bucks less.

Yeah, I rather stick with the standard model so I can afford the case I want and it's only $10 more than if I chose the corsair case. Thanks for letting me know about the cpu and mobo.

change some things.

first get a newer i5 4590 for 10$ more.

a z97 will be upgradable in case you want to upgrade to broadwell or h97 for low/ no overclocks

you could keep that r9 280 and get a ssd

keep your case

try to get a better psu

I know what your thinking man corsair is good, man people...

the cx and builder series are not good for 24/7 operation especially with gaming and/or overclocking anything(gpu, cpu, etc)

if you want corsair get a AX or HX series or get antec, xfx, seasonic, evga.

didnt add headset or mouse so could come to like 1300 but your buying this like 4-6 months a 100$ dollars in that amount of time should be possible.

this is kinda out of the budget and kinda better but not enough to validate if you dont have the money

you can change the case( i hate your case but just shows we all have different opinions its to simple)

now you only need to save up a little more cash for this(XD)

All of those are nice builds but I'm buying $500 in Peripherals alone so most of those builds with Peripherals that I add would be way over budget...

Love the last build btw xD
