Hi all
I've read the sticky and forum posts but I still am unclear on how to set up my network.

I want to use the av500 as an access point. I understand how to use my Asus as an access point, but would prefer not to because of its functionality and also the lack of netgear genie support for the mac. I'd rather make the netgear powerline the slave unit to the asus as master. I don't know how to set this up. My asus is upstairs and that is where the line comes into the house. The av500 is downstairs with the computer. I'd like there to be just one home network whereas now I have netgear and my asus networks. I read through the sticky and it said to turn off dhcp, I just want to make sure I can set up the way I want to before turning off my internet access.
I feel as if this shouldn't be too difficult but I think I'm going in circles and hope you can provide some steps/clarifications.
I hope this makes sense.
Thanks in advance.
Matt

Edit: bump, any help would really be appreciated. I'm at a loss here.

Edit: After much searching I answered the question myself and posted the answer in case someone else has this problem in the future.

Solution
Well i'll post my own answer so that someone with the same problem will be able to solve the issue. Netgear does not make a Mac accessible genie for the Powerline adaptor and the Asus interface is really nice. Briefly i'll describe my setup: My cable internet comes into the house in only one spot in the upstairs bedroom and supposedly this cannot be changed (Comcastic!). My asus rt-n66u is connected to a motorola cable modem there and one of my power line adaptors is connected via ethernet to the asus and then to the wall socket. Downstairs the second Powerline adaptor is plugged in and a small switch is plugged into the ethernet port there. I have my mac and my synology plugged into this switch via ethernet. The powerline also has a...

Downstairs the second Powerline adaptor is plugged in and a small switch is plugged into the ethernet port there. I have my mac and my synology plugged into this switch via ethernet. The powerline also has a wireless router function. I was able to make the powerline a slave the asus by holding in the button on the side of the downstairs adaptor that has a lock symbol on it until it blinks. I then went upstairs to the asus and pushed the WPS button and voila! That was all it took. Now the powerline adaptor extends my two asus wireless networks rather than create it's own. I hope this proves helpful to someone in the future.
