These are my current specs.
cpu - pentium dual core e5700 3 Ghz
mobo - asus p5g41t-mlx(lga 775)
memory - 4gb ddr3(2 x 2gb)
gpu - radeon hd 6670 2gb ddr3
hdd - wd green 1tb
psu - a cheap 400W, will upgrade to a decent certified corsair psu.
monitor - dell e1912h(720p)

The 6670 is too weak for gaming, and i will upgrade it to a 750 ti or the one that comes after that.
Then the next problem would be that the new gpu will get bottlenecked by my old cpu.
So, i am thinking of getting a used core 2 quad, which is quite cheap(a little more than pentium price and much lower than i3), something like a q8400 or a q9450 2.66 ghz . Will i be able to safely overclock it to 3 Ghz?
Will upgrading to 8gb ram make a huge difference? The problem is that my mobo has only 2 slots, and i have already filled them with 2gb ram. So if i have to upgrade, i could sell them both and get 2 x 4gb ram, if it is worth it.
I will not be upgrading anything else as i don't have the money right now, and i will only upgrade after 2 years or so.
720p is enough for me, 2x or 4x aa is enough, but need high or ultra graphics quality and 30 fps.
I know that the core 2 quad is weaker than anything higher than the current pentium, i really have to stick with this for 2 more years.
So,
1)Will the core 2 quad bottleneck the new gpu, 750 ti or the next one?
2)Will the pentium d(i had a pentium d before) stock cooler be enough for core 2 quad, if not, suggest me a cheap but decent cooler?
3)Can i safely overclock the C2Q to 3 Ghz without changing the voltage?
4)Should i upgrade the ram to 8 gb?
5)How much power does the core 2 quad consume(Q 9450 and Q8400), since its tdp is 95W, so is that the maximum, pre OC?

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor ($69.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock H97M Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($75.66 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill NS 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1333 Memory ($42.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card ($129.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $318.63
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

It's better for you to go with a new motherboard, processor, RAM, and graphics card. 4GB might seem bad for gaming, but actually it's enough, I chose 4GB for your budget. This processor, when overclocked, performs like an i7 in games, but the motherboard is H97 and thus can't be overclocked. The GTX 750Ti is a powerful budget graphics card, capable of playing most games at medium-high settings @ 1080p.

The pentium isn't available in India, yet. And i already said i have 2 x 2 gb ram.
The components costs much more here than in the US.
I could get a C2Q + 750 ti for a much lower price(<$200).
BTW isn't i3 >>> pentium G3258(non oc) and i3 > pentium(OC)?
How does the pentium achieve i7 like speeds anyway? Unless you are talking about singlethreaded performance.
