Which new GPU to purchase?

Not sure which card I should purchase, these are 3 I am looking at, but I am open to suggestions:

- 280x
- 770
- 7970

I am looking to spend around 350 before taxes (Canadian).

I am leaning towards the 280x myself, only because I'm super fed up with nvidia drivers for the past year. However, I switched to Nvidia a couple of years ago because of all the bad luck I had with fans on various GPUs that I needed to RMA from radeon.

Does anyone have any advice on which manufacturer (ie: sapphire, asus, etc) makes the better card, which model #, etc etc

Mostly playing MMO / FPS games. A lot of unreal engine stuff, like Marvel Heroes, Tera, etc (new thief game for benchmarking @ 1920x1080 for example).

Cheers.

My mainboard : MB ASUS|M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 RT
My PSU: Ultra LSP750 750-Watt Power Supply

the 280x is the best out of those 3, and good manufactures include sapphire, msi, asus, gigabyte, and usually XFX, HIS, Powercolor, and sometimes diamond and visiontek.

Well... 7970 and 280X are the same chip, the cards are comparable, 280X is a rebadge.

770 is slightly ahead of the 7970/280X, I think realistically you'd be fine with any of the three. I am impartial to AMD, I think right now they've got the best bang for the buck line up, but the deals are out there for both companies, we're in the long stretch where nothing new is coming out for a while, so the people who bought early have all ready bought and now we're coasting waiting for new cards.

^^ exactly, and the 280x is a rebadged 7970, however it is slightly better in all areas. the 770 is about the same in performance, however it only has 2gb vram. neither amd or nvidia have driver problems right now.

Well nvidia still has problems with their 500/600 series cards and have since the 314 drivers. Coming from a gtx560ti myself so I know the pain =)

I didn't think it extended to the 700 series, but ya, it never hurts to ask.

Thanks very much guys, I think I am going to go with that 280x.

Thinkin maybe one of these 2:

Sapphire 11221-00-20G AMD Radeon DUAL-X R9 280X OC with Boost 3GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Video Card

or

XFX R9-280X-TDFD Double Dissipation AMD Radeon R9 280X Gaming 3GBB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Video Card

they are basically identical in price (7$)

Suggestions?

Hrm states they both have 2 years warranty for me. Unless there is something I'm missing =)

Like the look of that big fat pipe on the sapphire as well. Think that is what I am going to go with!

Thanks so much guys!

Cheers.
