My current system is as such: AMD 8350, GA 990FXA ud3, XFX 7790DD, 16GB Ram, 120gb SSD, and a 600W Corsair power supply. I am wondering If I can replace the 7790 with an EVGA 780 FTW edition. Would it work properly with my current system? Would I get bottlenecking? If so what do I need to replace? Thanks

Solution
The 780 will not bottleneck the CPU as long as the game you are playing properly utilizes at least four cores. Sure, a 2nd-generation i7-2600 or better can handle even a GTX TITAN Black without much effort, but the AMD 8350 should be just enough for an Nvidia GTX 780.

Now if your PSU is a Corsair CX600, then I would recommend changing that out since the CX series is not really built for hardcore gaming components. It uses cheap "Made in China" capacitors which do not like heat. Get like a SeaSonic or XFX 650w and you should be good to go.

you will most likely bottleneck. if you are gaming you only use 2 cores max of 4 sometimes. you have a 8 core processor. my wife has the 4300 which in 2 core gaming would perform the same as yours and has a gtx 660 and her cpu bottlenecks. i have a i7 3770k and a geforce 770. and my i7 is a slight bottleneck. on the other hand if your using a game or program that can utilize your cores and threads properly you will be fine and any bottleneck would be near unnoticeable.

No, he will NOT bottleneck. His would NOT perform like a dual core.

flanders25, don't listen to this guy. He does not understand what a bottleneck is. A bottleneck is when your GPU cannot reach 100%. If he opends MSI afterburner on a demanding game, after playing for a while, he will see that his GPU can reach 100%. Bottlenecks don't start until you move to higher GPU's, and you have something like an i3. If you all want to know what I mean, watch this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAgpvWc4VBM

if thats true then explain why my gpu a windforce 770 is between 50-70% when my frames are capping from my cpu a i7 3770k.
any my wife same thing 60-80% on a galaxy 660 her frames cap on a fx4300.
the cpu is slowing down the gpu. just like uhem your above movie shows.

In what game? Also, my 8350 works great with the 770. My 770 can hit up to 100% in gaming (games that are demanding, and when I am actually playing). Also, look ANYWHERE on the internet for gaming performance differences between the 4100 and the 8350. I am not going to explain this too you, as I don't believe you watched the video.

Yes, I know how this works. Honestly, I am tired of dealing with people giving out false information, that at this point, I'm just going to say, I don't care, do the research, believe what you want to believe, and I am leaving this thread.
