Win 7 Enterprise (not genuine, had no problem with the copy for years)
Install on 64GB SSD, again, no problems for years.

Three days ago, had separate pop up message errors in Google Drive and MS Onedrive. Then Windows froze. Had to restart. Then Google Chrome had issues. I managed to catch this popup.

Got sick of it .. decided to reinstall. As you can guess.. more problems. Install did not take. Tried again ... nothing. Installed onto WD 750 Black instead of SSD. Then formatted SSD. Install worked this time on SSD. Went through setup. Was happy until one hour later, it froze again.

But no error message. Chrome stopped responding and when I click on start menu, it would come on, but exit and leave a smudge on the area it was on. Then pc would turn off.

I started again... but it would loop from a "start windows normally, safe mode, etc window". But restarts no matter what I choose. I restart and get into boot menu. I choose SSD and it tries to install windows updates. It fails and reverts. Then loads. Everything looks fine ... and one hour later it freezes and turns off again. This repeats.

I try to install updates, it shows as 147 updates needed. If I do that, they LOOK like they are updating ... and it restarts .. and loops again.

I can always get it to start by going into boot priority .. but it always freezes and turns off after an hour.

Any ideas? I have a new SSD coming to try again. Or I can unhook SSD and install Win 7 on HHD... but I want to know why it is happening.

it will be useful, if you can post your hardware specs. the issue could be at hardware level, as you have already reinstalled the OS on your WD black hard drive.

BTW, if you don't have a genuine key, you probably should have turned off updates, as some updates can detect your copy is pirated and mess with you deliberately.

I had this copy of Win 7 installed for almost 3 years even with updates.. everything worked nicely. Unless there was an update very recently that screwed with things.

It might not be. so you have 4 memory sticks. Can you remove three of them and leave only one in and see if the problem goes away. if the problem persists, can you remove that stick, put another one in. I suspect that one of your memory stick may be defective.
