I changed the file association of a program, now I want to change it back to windows shell. I tried to change it, but when I go to my system32 folder, the shell32 file and all other application extension files don't show. They show when I browse the folder normally, but not when I try to associate a program.

Solution
You need a compression tool such as IZArc, 7zip, WinRAR, PeaZip, etc. to open such files. All .001, .002, .003 etc files need to be in the same folder and the .001 executed, they will merge to rebuild the large file. And if it doesnt open rightaway, associate them to the compression tool in the Control Panel.
Do it from Control Panel / Programs / Default Programs / Make a file type always open in a specific program / select the file extension / change program / Select the program or click Look for another applicaion on this PC / browse to the program folder, select the executable.exe file and click Open / Click Close.

I already tried this, shell32 doesn't show up in my system32 folder like it does when I browse it normally.

Shell32.dll is not a program you can associate files to... the only way to open it is when you change icons... so you will not be able to use it like you want.. you said

.. So I wonder what file/s are you talking about... what extension do they have?...

It's an 002 file. It's supposed to be merged with another file, but I'm unable to do that (supposedly) because I changed the program that it opens with. Shell32 (windows shell common) was what it was originally associated with, so I don't see why I can't change it back.
