Acceptable input lag for gaming moitor

Looking at buying a monitor for new gaming rig. I want speed and performance over picture quality. So going for a tn monitor at 144hz, also want something with low input lag for fps games. What would be considered a good amount of lag for this?

The monitor I'm looking at has 12ms input lag, in my country that's the best I can get without paying a fortune. Also It's 24 inch at 1080p how does this look in terms of pixel density? Is 1440p needed ?

Monitor lag should be 1 to 5 ms gtg.

What country? Where do you buy from?

I think you're getting confused with response time (which is the speed the pixels change color)

I'm talking about input lag (which is the time it takes to register your actions from the mouse and keyboard to the screen)

From New Zealand and everything is very expensive even on the internet

The monitor response time is from input signal to screen.

So from mouse move to cursor move. Where do you buy from?

I'm in Aus and our dollars are nearly the same. NZ isn't so bad.

Some monitors do BS like dynamic contrast which has to be calculated before the image is displayed.
Some TH test with input lag.

I can see the 1 ms response time. But not the 12ms lag.

They test the input lag, towards the lower part of the page

That's what they're calling a ghosting time. And they say its "too low to have any negative impact on performance in multiplayer gaming set-ups"

Your main problem is that you're looking at a 144Hz monitor. Try 60Hz instead.
