Ok I'll try to keep this simple so I'll write in points.

  • ■ Had Windows 7 installed for 2 years.
    ■ Two weeks ago reinstalled Ubuntu 14.04 over Win7 (formatting everything)
    ■ Trying to reinstall Win7 now over Ubuntu (created new ntfs partition with gparted)
    ■ Installing via USB. After installation boots up, CD/DVD driver is missing pops up
    ■ Solutions that I've googled and that I tried: 1. Checking if it's in USB3 (It's not) 2. Trying that swapping method with different USB2 slots. 3. Tried Installing different versions (Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Windows 7 Home etc.) 4. Tried to install older version of Windows (Windows XP SP2) 5. Tried adding all of the drivers to the installation to check if it recognizes it. 6. Checked my BIOS settings (USB is first on the list of bootable devices, USB Legacy). 7. Formatted hdd completely and tried fresh install.

If anyone has an idea about what's causing the problem and how to fix it I'll be eternally grateful. I really need Win7 now to do some work on it :(
