How good is my build?

This is the first time I'm building my own computer. I'm given an initial sum of $500 and I have to pay for every penny after that, so I'm trying to keep the price to a minimum. This computer is designed to be used solely for the purpose of gaming and entertainment. It will need to be able to run Battlefield 4, Metro Last Light, Watch Dogs, and other modern games smoothly at 1080p.

I was able to buy the RAM, motherboard, and the GPU for cheaper price, thus the actual cost is aout $120 lower than the price provided by pcpartpicker. Additionally, I do not need an OS because I already own a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium. With that in mind, please take a look at my build to see if something is wrong or if some parts can still be improved (minimize the cost). Any way to minimize the cost is greatly appreciated :) Here is the link.

I had a few questions in mind while working on this build:
1. Will the GPU card fit in the Rosewill case?
2. Can the AMD FX-6300 be safely overclocked without an aftermarket cooler (given that the case already came with 3 separate fans)?
3. Is a dedicated sound card (cheap one) worth it for the purpose of gaming?

well, the fx 6300 can probly cant go much over the 4.1 ghz turbo with the stock cooler, and also get that mobo from amazon, as you have to drive to the nearest micro-center to pick it up. also, that psu is sub-par quality, something like this would be much better http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1550sxxb9 but it is $20 more. another tip, get 2x4gb ram, it will perform better than 1x8gb ram :)

Solution
The R9 280x is 285mm long
Rosewill don't say how long vga card it will take

No - you need an aftermarket cpu cooler to be able to overclock the fx6300 safely.

Your mottherboard features -
Realtek® ALC887 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC
- Supports : Jack-detection, Multi-streaming, Front Panel Jack-retasking
Audio Feature :
- ASUS Noise Filter
- Optical S/PDIF out port(s) at back panel

which would be as good as a cheap sound card anyway.

Only get 1 x 8gb ram if you plan to shortly get another. Else get 2 x 4gb - runs faster

Get a better quality power supply - 600W eg Seasonic 620, XFX 650 or Antec HCG 620M

Does 2x4gb ram make much of a difference from 1x8gb ram? I chose the 1x8gb ram because I was able to find one for $60, $10 cheaper than any other 2x4gb I could find out there. About the power supply, would this one do fine? I would buy the one you recommended if I know for sure it's better. Lastly, is it ok if I replace the Asus M5A97 R2.0 with the LE version? Would I still be able to overclock and do all the gaming stuffs? I'm asking because someone offered me the LE version for $57 and I wonder if I should get it instead, given that the price is only half of the non-LE version.

Corsair CX is in Tier 3 of http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html. It's recommende to gte a pwoer supply from tiers 1, 2a or 2b.

The CX have had a bad history on this forum. Particularly with voltage control issues - due to cheap capacitors (like some other Corsair psu's) and due to badly molded 24 pin motherboard connectors. There are good Corsair power supplies. But not the CX.

From Tier 1, 2a or 2b, I'd recommend eg easonic 620, XFX 650 or Antec HCG 620M instead

the difference between 2x4gb and 1x8gb is not that much, so if you really need to save money then 1x8gb is fine. as i7Baby said, the CX line os psu's are sub-par, try to get one in T1, 2a, or 2b. you sure can get the LE version of the mobo, but then you can not do any overclocking, the max speed would be the turbo speed.
