Three types of brands that are good quality.

ASUS:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131981&cm_re=asus_z87-_-13-131-981-_-Product

MSI:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130693&cm_re=z87_msi-_-13-130-693-_-Product

Hope this helped.

You definetly want to go with the gtx 770 because of its performance, its slightly faster than a r9 280x.

The GTX 770 is slightly faster than the R9 280X, so if (through sales, rebates, etc.) you can find the 770 cheaper or the same price as the 280X, go with that. Otherwise the R9 280X is probably a better purchase.

Hard to say on the motherboard without knowing what your expectations are. £150 will get you a relatively high-end motherboard, where the differentiating features will be the number of PCI-E lanes for SLI/Crossfire, built-in Wifi/Bluetooth support, great overclocking hardware, etc. If you don't need any of that, I'd just recommend spending less. What do you need it to have?

It features shadowplay which is a VERY good recording software that doesnt affect performance at all when recording and it is smaller file size when its done recording.

You get your bang for the buck with a gtx 770.

This is quite a hard question to answer in my opinion without knowing a few more details first, as "better" is subjective to your needs.

There are many things to consider. What games do you want to play? For example, if you love BF 4 and you spend most of your time playing it, then the 280x would be better, as BF 4 is optimized for AMD. This can be the case for Nvedia too with other games. However if you want to play a selection of games then the GTX 770 does seem to out perform the 280X in general benchmarking from what I've seen.

Are you looking to do Crossover/SLI in the future? If so the 280X will provide greater flexibility with other future cards. Is PhysX important to you? If so Nvidea is the better choice due to a dedicated chip.

The base price of the 280X is better than the GTX 770 but as suggested before you may be able to get deals, so keep an eye out for what's cheapest now and by how much.

Either way, I would seriously advise providing us with a bit more info on what you want out of your card. Until then I wouldn't be comfortable with giving a straight answer on which card to choose. Hope I helped :D

Ok, BF4 is built for AMD so the 280x will perform better.

In BO2 the 770 gives slightly better FPS. However it's not significant and being about 100 fps for both at any resolution, you're really not going to tell the difference ( Especially if you only have 60hz tv! )

Crysis is more or less the same story. The 770 wins again... just.

In my experience the 770 gives slightly better average fps but the 280x tends to give better minimum FPS which is closer to it's average. Meaning more consistent fps.

As for temps, it will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer of the graphics card due to diffrent cooling solutions. For example some cards will have 2 fans and others 3.

My personnel advise would be to see what you can find online in terms of price. I picked up a virtually new XFX R9 280x for £120 off ebay. For me that was perfect however, you should look for something which is friendliest to your wallet as well as your needs. In other words, look for some deals.

Couple of choices that hit me from amazon to get you started:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/GeForce-DirectCU-Graphics-Express-Display/dp/B00CY5GP08/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407193173&sr=8-1&keywords=gtx+770

From here I don't think I can help much more unless you have a specific question. Good luck and I hope I helped :D .

P.s. I can personally vouch for the XFX 280X.

I advice GTX 770 over r9 280x. R9 280x are having some serious artifacting problems with all brands, i already RMA'd two. And overall nvidia has better cards and more stable drivers.
If you want quiet and cool GPU, get an ASUS DCII Top gtx 770, i have one, its super silent and it never ran hot :)
