Mouse lag while browsing/gaming

Just bought the UTechSmart Venus 16400 DPI mouse from amazon as it had amazing reviews, however recently the mouse has lagged slightly and almost 'stuck' on the odd occasion. Its not a major fault but its enough to frustrate me and i cant tell if its a driver problem or im just being too picky and its the mousemat. could someone please give me some ideas on how to correct this?

Go to Device Manager, Human 'Interface, check for the mouse, right-click, uninstall, reset computer however you can, let it boot, at startup you'll see device is installing software. Hope this helps

Thanks guys. I think i've found the solution however, my mouse is 'laser' so the mat i'm using isn't optimized for the mat. I tried using the mouse without a mat (it didn't work at all) and i tried with a less expensive mat (slightly better); so my guess is that i should go for a better quality mat. Could you give me some examples of a mouse mat optimised for 'Lazer Mice' please?

I have the same issue with my utechsmart venus. I have a nice oversized rosewill mouse pad and it lags, gets stuck, and sometimes I can let go of the mouse and the pointer will move around a little by itself, like in a small circle. I'm anbout to throw it out and buy a logitech.
