So I just bought the online version of windows 8.1 from the Microsoft store, (so it is legit.) And whenever I get to the screen after entering my product key it says, "we're going online to get a few things ready for you." Then a few seconds later it says, "we can't connect right now." When I am connect to the internet with a good connection strength and everything. I am running windows 7 home premium 64-bit version so there shouldn't be a problem there either. Also when I go to the upgrade to windows 8.1 with only product key page I hit install windows 8.1 and download that, put in my product key and that's where I get the error saying it can't connect to the internet. But if I try hitting install windows 8 then it doesn't accept my product key. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you updating to 8.1 from Windows 7?
Are you installing it from the app store store?

If you installing it from the store and not able to connect, you need to find out how to clear Store cookies. It sounds strange, but that store has cookies just like any web page. I do not remember the steps to get to it but when you clear them, it may start working. I had that issue with 8.0 to 8.1 update.

@astralv yeah I'm upgrading/updating my windows 7 to windows 8.1 but I don't really want to install all of windows I just need it to download onto my SSD so I can put that SSD into my newly built computer so it will boot off of that. But no it isn't off the store I downloaded the setup.exe thing from Microsoft, I enter my product key that is verified and okayed then the next screen says it can't connect to the internet over WiFi or directly plugged into my modem.
