how to stop the touchpad from crashing

Solution
Hopefully it is just a driver issue. Windows may load a standard or more stable driver at startup. But, when you log into your account it may load a vendor specific app that references a different driver.

Try to first find an updated driver from your laptop vendor.
If you are unable or one something easier, try to update just the touchpad driver with the Slimdrivers Free version below.
