Hi, i've been hearing a strange buzzing noise from my computer recently. It's a quiet humming noise, and if i move my ear around I can guess that it comes from my GPU. The noise only occurs when i am gaming. My computer and it's components are only a year old (though they have been used heavily for gaming, I also built it myself). I am also still an amateur with computers, so please bear with me.

My specs are:
GPU: GTX 770 superclocked EVGA
CPU: i5 3570k (stock fan)
Mobo: Azrock extreme 4
HDD: Westren digital caviar black 1TB

Any help and insight is welcome, thank you in advance.

What you're hearing is probably something known as Coil Whine.

Is it dangerous? Nope, not in the slightest.
Is it annoying? Oh god yes.

It mostly happens on reference graphics cards, it's essentially the sound of power moving through the board causing coils to do their best impression of Celine Dion.
(Aka, scream at the top of their micro lungs).

Sometimes using a better grade and overall more efficient power supply can aid the whine, but it's mostly just an issue with the card itself.

You don't have to worry about it damaging your components, but it can be exceptionally annoying to listen to. If you can still RMA the card, go for that.

If I remove my GPU, will i still be able to launch games? Because the noise only occurs when i'm gaming like I mentioned in my first post and i'm almost certain it's my GPU because the noise always comes from there.
