My computer specs are:
GPU: ASUS ENGTX480/2DI/1536MD5 GeForce GTX 480 (Fermi) 1536MB 384-Bit
MOBO: asus motherboard p7p55d-e
POWER: 750W corsair power supply
CPU: Intel Core i7-870 Lynnfield Quad-Core 2.93GHz LGA 1156 95W Processor
SSD: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive
HDD: and a couple other 2tb harddrives
RAM : 8gb ram at the moment across quad channel

my problem is my new ssd i bought sucks with my motherboard because of the marvell sata 3 adapter on it, bottlenecks my full write and read speed on it. Although its still quick im using it on a sata 2 port. I was wondering if people had this build what would you upgrade to for better performance all around? This build was made in 2010 so everything is 4 years old besides the ssd

i'd go for a full processor/mobo/RAM (if you're currently sporting DDR2 that is) upgrade combo and maybe a graphics card upgrade if you feel you need it.

If i did upgrade cpu/mobo/ram i would deff go for the i7 but is the 4ghz worth getting and what kind of mobo is the most stable without much tweaking, i dont plan on overclocking at all. Im looking at $500 for my budget but it can go over

For gaming your wouldn't gain any FPS upgrading to an i7-4790k hence:

Here is another idea. Good ram, not the cheapest. A great motherboard for being h87.
Also a great cpu that is equivalent to an i7.
