Not sure what happened, but I really need to access the data. It's a Buffalo 500G unit and powers up fine. Just can't access the info:??:?

It might be several things:
- the electronics inside the enclosure is bad, but the disk itself is OK. In that case - remove the disk from the enclosure, and plug it directly into your desktop.
- the disk inside went belly up

When you say, "powers up" - can you see the disk in "Device Manager"?
