Hello, In about a month I will be building a $500 budget gaming PC and was wondering if i should go with a AMD or Intel Rig? what is better for that price range? Also what do you suggest for the Graphics card for that price range.

Solution
Intel, using the new Pentium G3258 which can be overclocked to good effect, even on non-"Z" motherboards. You'll end up with a system that is "decent" now, and has plenty of upgrade room for later. The video card will be something in the range of a R7 260X, R9 270, GTX750Ti, or maybe GTX760.
Do not use a Corsair "CX" PSU; select a Seasonic- or Super Flower-built PSU like XFX or Rosewill Capstone.

Yes, that number is increasing. On a $500 budget though, I think the Pentium is the better starting point as it has plenty of upgrade potential (just drop in a new CPU) vs. needing to replace the entire platform (including Windows license) because there isn't much (if any) upgrade room.
If the games to be played at the outset are among those needing a more capable CPU, it would probably be better to weaken the graphics card a little and get an i3 or even i5. Consider that even "Medium" settings look pretty good in modern games. That may run counter to conventional wisdom which emphasizes the graphics card in gaming PCs, but necessary on a tight budget and when stipulating high initial CPU requirements. For example, having run the game with a variety of hardware, I'd rather run GW2 with an i5-3570K+HD7770 than with a Phenom II 970BE and a HD7870.
