AMD FX 8350 Working like trash

Hello guys I have a serious problem with my amd fx 8350. I am running windows 7 and I already installed the "hotfixes" that unpark the cores, but it is still working like garbage. I updated the chipset for my motherboard, I have it at the default clock, I am clueless how to fix this. I just upgraded my computer this past weekend. I kind of want it working optimally so I can continue to play games all day. It is sad because I lag on league of legends and if my browser gets a little process intensive it starts to lag. Even when I run the windows performance test it scored a 4.8. I think something is wrong. My old processor which was a 4 core amd phenom performs better than what I have now. And I spent a lot of money on this trash.

It sounds like your motherboard isn't correctly supporting the chip.

Hmmm... you should be scoring much higher than this. I have a small htpc with: a10-5700, 4gb DDR3-1600, Samsung 830 SSD, Win7 32bit and it has a WEI (windows experience index) of 7.4.

1) is your processor throttling (installed correctly, thermal paste, good cooler?) which would slow it down? Monitor your temperatures using HW monitor and see.
2) memory - AMD's are notorious for not as good of a memory controller as Intel, so good memory is a must. DDR3-1600 or DDR3-1866 with at least a CAS 9 latency - you're running DDR3-1333 if I'm not mistaken with unknown timings.
3) Your WEI is 4.8 - what is your limiting number (it reports the SLOWEST number as your limiting factor). I know your average SATA spinny drive scores 5.9, so something is slower than that - what was it? CPU or memory?

The 8350 was released in 2012, even then it was just a refresh of the old "bulldozer" architecture. It has weak cores and you won't find it recommended, especially for gaming:

What did you have? A Phenom x4 965, you basically did a side-grade; if it wasn't "cutting it" for you either will a FX chip. Problem is AM3+ is dead. You gotta cut you ties to that old motherboard and buy something current.

It was the processor giving the lowest score. The hardrive was giving 5.9 which I don't mind, but the processor is brand new and should be working. My previous ram was causing me to blue screen so I don't care if its too slow.

I believe it was installed correctly. We used a correct amount of thermal paste. I have a big noctua heatsink on it. If it's being detected it should be working correctly I assume. Idk

I am starting to question the memory, but when I bought it, it said on it that it was 1866mhz, but it is being read as 1338 which makes me kind of pissed off. I tried to set the motherboard to 1866 but it wont even boot like that lol

http://tinypic.com/r/2rhyadd/8 Here is a screenshot of my windows index thing and HWMonitor It is running rather cool. I have never had any problems like that.

I just bought this motherboard because the previous one wasn't even compatible with am3+ it had too old of a chipset. If this is a side upgrade then I want it to at least perform the same as a computer made in 2010

Using the details on this page it states that it's an AM3 board, not AM3+. However, it also states that a BIOS update enables such functionality.

The screenshot you posted backs up my theory, under CPU VCORE section of HWMonitor it's listing the voltages to be all messed up. Stock volts for the 8350 are 1.3625v. Yours is reporting a Min rate of 1.128 which is unfathomably low for this chip.

In short, that means it's throttling, and you're not gaining the correct performance because of it.
I recommend updating the BIOS to the latest version and seeing if Gigabyte's claim of AM3+ compatibility holds true.
You can find the latest BIOS patch and instructions on how to apply it on the Gigabyte support page.
You will most likely need a spare blank memory stick for the procedure.

Don't worry about your RAM or anything else, it's all reporting quite well going by the WEI score.

Also, what 'Hotfixes' do you speak of? As far as I'm aware, there isn't any need to do any third party software edits for the FX line to run at their full potential in Windows. Various benchmarks based on my own chip back up this theory.
Based on past posts, the tit above will probably tell you otherwise.
Maybe a reinstall of Windows is in order?

Ok I'll do that as soon I get home from work and report back.

It was the hotfix sent out by Windows. I wouldn't install third party software for something like this. There were 2 which I thought was my problem at first until nothing changed

It would be impossible for me to respond to all "pissed" owners of FX chips. Do a search, the threads are endless.

And it could drive me insane, but luckily I can only help a few. I just wish people would do a bit of research, this is a good site with good information and Tom's has tested all of this:
pleasehelpmetom says he likes League of Legends... well... depends on his settings, but he'll probably get worse performance with the FX vs. a Phenom X4. Tom's did:

Just stop it, that is only a insignificant test! I bet LoL isn't using all the cores of the 8350(it simply can't do it) and LoL is such a light-weight game that it shouldn't even use more than 2 cores. Also the 8350 is 7 fps slower! And you are saying that he will get worse performance because of them 7 fps that aren't even shown by an usual display with a 75hz refresh rate.

Ok so all I had to do was update my bios and it is 7.8 now on the windows test thing so I know it is working as intended. I just didn't know how to update my bios and after he suggested it and used his smart knowledge he helped me. Thanks all.

That is true, at the resolution of 1050p both chips generated over 100 fps. So indeed, an 8 fps second difference is insignificant. Especially when you take a 60Hz or so refresh rate in account. And it's great you know that cozzmy; but don't you push more pixels than that?

Looking at higher resolutions(1080p and above, I thought you might?) and the fps really start to drop. The older Phenom X4 always scores better than the weak core'd FX. That's why I said pleasehelpmetom may get worse performance (depending on settings). If he's pushing a lot of pixels on a high resolution monitor he'll have to lower his settings to match the frame rates of his (retired) X4.

If there are any idle FX cores while playing LoL. They aren't worth much, as you can't live stream. Many satisfied owners and positive reviews. Like Devon H, loves LoL and his 8350, 8th review down(July 11th, 2014):

Where do you see the 1080p benchmarks for CPUs? I may be stupid but I can't find them!

8350 is fine for playing many games, although its not the best. In this thread it was clearly an issue (needing the bios update), rather than just the architecture.
