Is there any difference between a ip and a proxy.

A proxy server is a machine that is a middle man between you and the internet, either for better processing, location reasons, or internet security.

An IP is simply an address that your machine has that enables your router to know where to send the data (think of it like your home address). FYI there is also a MAC address that is a lower level identification number (think of it like a social security number or whatever number your government uses for identification).

WHAT???? How does your home ip become known because you use the proxy at work???

If the proxy changes the headers and does not show your home IP, then there is no tracing from outside the proxy without having permissions to go through the proxies activity logs.

If you are using a shared proxy server you wont be targeted for some other persons criminal activity because there were lots of people on that proxy so there is no reasonible proof you performed the act.

If there is any easy link to you through the proxy then the same easy links would be there for the person performing illegal acts.

I mean, if you log your facebook account using the proxy at work.
Then you go home and log the same facebook account.
At this time both directions should be related because both of them loged the same account.

Then if they check the proxy log, they would see your facebook account and then get you.

Am i wrong? xd
