I Have hp envy-14 sleekbook and have intel 4600 and geforce GT 740m, the problem is that, i cannot switch to 740m and instead it uses intel's 4600. have tried almost every solution online but failed. Drivers are all up to date according to geforce experience. choosed run as 740m but this is also not working.. and i have windows 8.1.

Great news. Glad that fixed it for you. I should've mentioned that since its always the first thing I try, but that didn't work in my case but shouldn't have figured you having the same problem as i

your NVidia control panel is set up to run on the 740m?

How exactly do you know whether or not the 740m is working or not?

What programs are you trying to run on the 740m?

The 740m isn't meant for gaming, its really just to give you a small edge in the rendering photo editing department.

Alright, well first thing. How did you get screen shots/pictures to show up in your post? Never knew that.

Second, I have a heck of a time getting anything adobe to use my card either. But that said, the card is used for acceleration. Just the rendering process. And only when using an h.2 codec/format. AVI MP4 ect don't support acceleration. I also don't believe that elements supports acceleration either. They took it out of the newer versions to make you use premier pro (which is now subscription not an actual buying the program).

But using Sony Vegas Pro 13, using the appropriate format for gpu acceleration, going into options and selecting open cl and cuda acceleration. My graphcis card is still barely touched.

Here is a link of a quick render in sony vegas. It'll show like 20% core and 7% memory core load. Everything else is untouched.

Thing is that NVidia doesn't utilize the full potential of the geoforce cards. THeyre held back by drivers. That way it gets people to spend more on professional class quaddro cards.

Thanks for the sc info

That's a very very early version of elements.
I've just searched my elements vs 12, and have no options for gpu acceleration. A quick google search also shows no gpu support after version 8.

Yup, please do. I was having the same problem with my cyberlink powerdirector 12. It works with gpu accel on every other laptop ive had, and my desktop, but my new laptop configured 100% the same as my others, just doesn't use gpu (which is a 880m).

Couldn't figure it out so I said screw it and got sony vegas pro 13. Which at $600, was awesome as after some youtube on how to use the program it has everything. But sad that my already spent $200 cyberlink cant work and I had to spend another $600.

But please let us know how/if you figure it out.
