I'm using an amd a8 5600k and a coolermaster 212 evo for the cooler. Speccy shows my idle temps at around 65°C and when I go to play a game or do anything really it goes to about 80°C-90°C.. I have no idea what is wrong with it and I thought those temps were pretty high. Does anyone have an idea of what is wrong?

If you have high idle temperatures it's possible for the cooler to have poor contact with the CPU. Try reinstalling the CPU cooler with fresh thermal paste.

Also, what does the CPU-Z software say your CPU voltage is?

There are factors that can make the chip run hotter or cooler, like the ambient temperatures, airflow inside the case, overclocking, amount of thermal paste applied between the lid and the heatsink (pea in the middle), RPM of the CPU fan, etc.

I have coretemp installed and it shows everything as 0, any idea why? Another program I have tried is HWMonitor, which shows the same temp as speccy.

EDIT: Tried AMD Overdrive and it shows much lower temps.. i'm confused.

Did you tighten down the screws one at a time or diagonally and alternating? If you tighten one down too far before the rest you tilt the heatsink so it cannot make good contact with the heat spreader. Take a look and make sure it is sitting flat on the CPU and doesn't have too much wiggle to it, it will have some if you try hard enough to turn it. If Speccy and HW Monitor are agreeing then i'd say that you found accurate temps, definitely ensure you have good heatsink contact, high idle temps are a sign that the CPU can't get rid of heat well.

I tightened it diagonally and all 4 screws are as tight as they would go, it turns a little bit but it's a little hard to make it turn. Is that maybe why?
