I have to install a new operating system on my gaming computer and want to know everyone thoughts with staying with Windows 7 or go with Windows 8.1. My concerns are because I assume Windows 9 will be out sometime next year and wonder if it's better to have 8.1 now or Windows 7 when Windows 9 comes out. The computer had Windows 7 Professional on it. The OS will be installed on a ssd. Thank you.

Get Windows 8.1, then wait for Windows 9.1 or whatever.

When Windows 8 came out, everyone complained about a ton of stuff, and now Windows 8.1 is much better.

All the updated and new drivers are becoming 8.1 64-bit oriented, and all games you play will definitely work on 8.1, if not slightly more efficiently than on Windows 7.

Also, 8.1 boots extremely fast on a normal hard drive now, so an SSD isn't needed, but will still be nice. I'd recommend maybe putting your most used game or two on the SSD, and the OS optionally.

And you're adorable :)

k1114 makes a good point. What do you mean you "have" to install a new operating system?

If you're buying a new license, then yes, of course go for 8.1
If you already have windows 7, then just stick with that and reinstall.
