Best AMD cpu for gaming

Solution
An i7 can be overkill if all you're doing is gaming. Games don't take full advantage of an i7. I'd go i5 if I was just concerned about gaming. Personally I'd go with an i7 if I had the money, because I do more than just game. I don't currently have the money, and the A10-6800K that I have, paired with a Radeon HD 7770 is gaming adequately for me.

The motherboard you list can handle up to the A10-6800K. That's the most powerful processor you can upgrade to. Whether or not it is worth the upgrade from your current CPU/APU depends on what you currently have.

The A10 is along the lines of an I3. Aging technology me thinks. If you got some money go new mobo Amd or intel. Personally I prefer intel i7.But i5 is goog for gaming too. 4790k haswell refresh is 329 and a good mobo around 150.

The A10-6800K is almost as good as a performer as the A10-7850K for about $50 less. The A10-7850K is also incompatible with your board as another poster stated.

Doesn't matter if he asked it or not.....the A10 are not good at all....best one is pretty much equivalent to the FX-4300...and those are already pretty bad.... He really does need to get new mobo/cpu....

FX-8350/990 mobo or go Intel route with i3/i5 etc....
