Hey guys,

I've been looking around for a new netbook, and have found that this one can be had for a very reasonable price refurbished. I'm wondering if anyone owns this config.? I've read that ASUS has throttled the i3 on this netbook and so it may not be as powerful as it could be.

Here is a link to the laptop in question:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

There are a lot of laptops with the Celeron 1007U which are slightly cheaper. I'm wondering if the i3 would be worth paying the extra money for, or whether the 1007U would actually perform better since it isn't throttled like the i3 in the above config is?

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks!

laptop in question is out-of-stock at the moment and I couldnt see the price. Also I think the i3 is worth the extra money over a celeron.

Refurbs keep popping up on eBay for around $350. The ones with the Celeron 1007U are all around $300.

Another follow up question. I currently have a netbook with the Pentium SU4100 processor. The main reason I'm looking to upgrade is because most HD streams struggle with this processor. It is a dual core not HT processor with a clock speed of 1.3ghz. My netbook has 4GB of RAM.

The new netbook I'm looking at will also have 4GB of RAM but the i3 processor will have a clock speed of 1.8ghz and is HT dual core. Here is a spec sheet for comparison of the two.

What I'm hoping for in a new netbook is that it not struggle playing any kind of HD video (including BD ISOs) and that it stay snappy with a whole bunch of tabs open on my browser. Those are the two areas my current netbook starts to struggle.

you might consider getting the asus k55a on ebay they are around 300-400$ depending if you get a good bid or not. they have a i5-3210M cpu which is a good step up from the i3-3217U

That looks good, but I would like to stick to something with a screen not much bigger than 12" or so.
