Can i upgrade from a 32 bit windows ultimate to the 54 bit without buying a 64 bit os disk?

Solution

The licence key that you have with your existing 32-bit version of Windows 7 will also work with the 64-bit version of Windows 7. You can obtain the official Windows 7 Ultimate ISO provided by Microsoft from the following URL

For your information, before upgrading, you should know that 64-bit operating systems can use more RAM—4 GB and up—than 32-bit operating systems. That can make them more responsive when you're running lots of programs at once. All packaged retail editions of Windows 7 (except for Home Basic) include both 32-bit and 64-bit installation discs.

That's correct. The product key is bound to the edition (Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise, Ultimate), not the architecture (IA-32, x86-64). The exception to this is Windows 7 Starter which does not have a 64 bit variant.
