So lately, I've been wanting to dabble more into Valve's Steam more graphic-heavy games, instead of just Team Fortress. and You have to Win the Game.
You see, my graphics card isn't all that powerful, it is an integrated one, (of course) an Intel(R) HD Graphics, by Can You Run It?'s standards, I can't even play Portal 2
So, I was wondering if I could get a PCIe/External graphics card that is powerful enough to play games like Dark Souls 2 and etc. on a laptop
Here are my specs, and my budget
Laptop Name: HP EliteBook 8440p
Brand: HP
Processor: Intel Core i5 CPU M560 @ 2.67ghz turbo to 2.8
System Type: 64 Bit OS
Installed Memory (RAM) : 8.00 gigabytes 7.80 Usable
Graphics Card: Intel HD(R) Graphics
Chip Type: Intel HD(R) Graphics (Core i5)
DAC Type: Internal
Total Memory:1696

Budget for Graphics Card/Tools: $125

Please, If you also could add in a tutorial/detailed step-by-step so I don't mess up my precious Laptop. That would be amazing, cause I am not very good with messing around inside the computer. Also include any risks and etc.
Inclosing,
Thanks so much

You mean proper full sized GPU's? I know about this company in Taiwan that has this adapter for full sized GPu's but the adapter itself is $100 and then it is very tricky, I have a i5 3210M and that comes with integrated INtell HD400 and it can run the games you listed perfectly fine, what chipset of thei 5 is it that you own?

I've seen external graphics card builds. I just want to be able to play Portal 2, Gmod and etc.

External builds are very rare, and most of the time don't work at all, I wouldn't spend money on something like that, and the i5's onboard graphics is enough for gmod and Portal 2.

Its in the specs list, And I was skeptical because CYRI's says my Graphics Card is outdated. Its the Intel HD R first gen, or the 1000 series, but i have been seeing videos on people playing games like skyrim with it.
So i think im good for now, thanks anyways
