So I want to go and buy a new ethernet port but its pretty expensive so I'd rather post here 1st.

So one day my ethernet port decided to fail on my after my dog bite my cable. I went out and bought a new cable and it still does not work.

things i've tried. I tried connecting the cable to my laptop and it works.
I tried to redownload the LAN driver. and I tried using my laptop as a router(connect from laptop to desktop) All of this shows no results. Isit safe to say that my ethernet port is the one that's spoilt?
Is there any other thing I can try?

This is my motherboard's download page.
Is there anything that I should try to reinstall? The only thin that I've reinstalled is this
"Realtek Lan driver ver:7048
Windows 7 64bit ver:7.48.823.2011"

This one looks very annoying as you have already tried enough and still you cannot detect the real problem if it’s you Ethernet port that is damaged or any other problem. I suggest you to try out following things to find out some solution:

The first thing is to check if the drivers for your NIC. If they're not properly installed, then that could be your problem.
Also check your router to make sure it's seeing the machine.
May also check the actual network cable.
If it is the built in Ethernet, then it could be the chip on the motherboard, not a card.
Check whether it is enabled in the BIOS.
